"To live together in the world means essentially that a world of things is between those who have it in common, as a table is located between those who sit around it; the world, like every in-between, relates and separates men at the same time"

Borders

Film review and conversations on contemporary times

The film review we propose centers on the concept of border, approached from many different perspectives. We will explore the geographical border, the political border, the social border, the subjective and lived border, the ecological border, the scientific and ethical border – to mention a few.

Through the movies we propose, as well as the conversations that will follow after each screening, we will explore what do these borders mark and which others they create, what consequences they have (and for whom) as well as what possibilities of encounters they might enable, depending on how they are practiced. Through these moments, we wish to open up a space to reflect on the deeply troubling times we live in.

Screening will take place in the evenings, in the Auditorium (Club House, Ispra). After the movie, we plan to dedicate some time to an open conversation, at times in dialogue with external guests. When an external guest is invited, we may plan to screen selected parts of the movie, in order to leave enough time for discussion. Entrance is free.
